CORONA VIRUS, GOD’S WORD and BELIEVERS…
By Tonnette Collier, M.Ed.
Written: 3-29-2020
There is no doubt that the Corona virus has changed our behaviors whether you are a Christ follower or not.
We’ve all become cognizant of the dangers this virus carries, but the power of God’s Promises are stronger than any pandemic, plague, sickness or death. We must trust Him, seek Him and uplift Him more frequently. After all, God is the AUTHOR of everything. That include obedient and disobedient folk among the living.
No matter what is happening in this universe, rulers of darkness are not ultimate decision makers because…The All Mighty is in control, He is Alpha and Omega.
God is teaching us to render LOVE, HARMONY and COMPASSION for all mankind as we attempt to combat catching a virus that has taken many lives. Remember…God brought diseases and plagues throughout His world to show folk whose in charge. Mind you, many of us have been disobedient or like my students say…”Off the chain Miss T.”
Think about it, once upon a time, hate dominated the headlines, airwaves streets, God has replaced it with RECOGNIZING who He is, bringing about WORLD UNITY as we all exercise precautionary measures, stand in faith, pray to Him for a healthier tomorrow and the freedom to travel in a world of uncertainty. Read up on these scriptures:
Exodus 12:13; 15:26
Leviticus 26:21, 25
2 Chronicles 7:13-14
Joel 2:25
Daniel 12: 8-10
God is not playing people, new or old testaments. His Word is powerful and true. There’s no time to contemplate, question or ignore centuries of TRUTHS God gave to selected writers to share with us through scripture. Why allow your Holy Bible to get dusty, your mind wonder or be afraid? Don’t let politics, money and government fool you.
Scripture shares that WE (the church) must return to our original faith, the Gospel. Who knows when Christ Jesus will arrive, decide through a virus to destroy a city, state or nation…just BE READY and RIGHTEOUS according to His Word. Read up on these scriptures:
Revelation 5: 1-2
Revelation 10: 1-2
Revelation 10:7
Remember to lean not on your own understanding. Ask God fearing DEVOUT shepherds to help you understand His Word and how this virus has been crafted to get you spiritually correct in mind, body and attitude.
Always me,
The butterfly messenger

REV. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.,
honor him with pride, respect and good sense!
Written by Tonnette Collier
Good morning loves. I’m certain many grills are fired up, bottles of liquor and wine showcased, parades of gyrating booties stepping onto local streets, t-shirts and not one book about the journey and historical works of MLK is within reach to educate kids beyond a mediocre classroom lesson.
Sad but true.
Black Americans…you continue to be bamboozled with rhetoric and demonstrate limited consideration of knowing your roots. Instead, most are ignorant and nonchalant about getting deep into learning the struggles, strife, and changes MLK endured, even until his death April 4, 1968.
There’s so much to learn about MLK.
As an avid book collector. Tons of Black history literature adorn my shelves. I made sure Justice and Brandon eyes, ears and minds were filled with the richness of our HISTORY with books on multiple reading levels. It’s BBaby’s turn to learn.
I share no excuse.
Quite honestly, I stopped frequenting parades, including Sweet Vine’s participation over a decade ago. I was devastated witnessing ignorance and absent-mindness of the true essence of Black America’s road to freedom, equality, respect and justice.
Guess what we’re still not valued, respected.
Senseless killings, stupid fights, poor social skills, self-destructing communities, selling poison, disparities in education, business inequalities, unemployment…need I write more? You know the situation, why be thoughtless?
Look at TV commercials, radio commercials. How many companies are having a MLK Day sales? But you’ll unconsciously shop there without thought because it’s your day off and you have a few coins to spare.
Wow, that speaks volumes to me.
Blacks were like glue in the 1960’s and back. The 1954 Montgomery Boycott nearly shook the socks off racism in Alabama…money talked and hatred shut up enough to ignite change in that city.
Where’s that Black attitude today?
Many have become complacent with how America shows itself, from the presidency to your doorstep. Stupidity abounds as Blacks stand cluelessly to honor a man who embarked on an assignment authored by God to save us.
We choose everything but KNOWLEDGE.
We choose everything but a BOOK.
Am I angry with Black folk ignorance? Hell yes! No grilling, no parade, no wine, no t-shirt, no booty shaking, no shopping by this Black American woman. Instead…
I’m reading more MLK books to BBaby. At 17 months, he can already identify MLK images. I find this more pleasurable and acquiring than ignorance on the life of MLK.
Toss ignorance Black folk…know your roots.

FALLING IN LOVE,
ask yourself..am I really ready?
Written by Tonnette Collier
As an independent, intellectual, beautiful, sexy, talented, educated, charming and loving Christian believer…folk often ask, Tonnette why are you single? My response…Boaz (Mr. Right) have not found me or I am over qualified.
I’m a country girl. Most country ladies do not approach men, at least that’s what my Dad taught me. He would say, “Baby girl…if a real man is interested in you, he will tell and show you in a sincere and honest way.”
As I reflect on Dad’s statement, years ago I pondered…Boaz is surely taking his dear sweet time, does he even notice me or am I what he needs? Those questions are far gone because my single life isn’t unhappy.
Jada Pinkett-Smith said one word that captured my attention today…MASTERY. I agree with her wholeheartedly. There are so many distractions that can destroy potential relationships. But if you’re mature and ready, that means you’ve reached MASTERY LEVEL and have no problems committing to a journey unlike no other.
Understanding the depth of true love, trust and building positive relations are characteristics required for any real relationship to flourish. If you have the desire to be a good woman or man to someone, be it.
Let nothing stop you! Tomorrow is not promised. Truth is many people need & want HONEST love, I most definitely do.
Quite frankly, I’m glad that I’ve never been married. I’m ripe enough now to enter a long-term courtship with potential to honestly LOVE Boaz (Mr. Right) for who he is, and he honestly LOVE me for who I am.
So ask yourself…are YOU ready for LOVE?
Always me
FOR ONLY LOVE CONQUERS HATE…
Written by Tonnette Collier
Good morning everyone. Don’t allow hate to take over our country, the world. There’s too much LOVE to absorb and give. Do this…
SMILE in the mist of enemies.
LAUGH armored with love.
SING loud showcasing happy tears.
THEN dance and shout about it.
Therefore an enemy will not attempt to rob you of your JOYS. Now go LOVE someone!
“Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you maybe able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you maybe able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand” (Eph. 6:10-13, Nelson, NKJV).

BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFY, BEAUTY
will he love you on hobo days?
Written by Tonnette Collier
Very few references in the New Testaments enlighten us on beauty. However, Old Testament scriptures took BEAUTY at its word. In order to deliver today’s message, thoughts alluded to a conversation between me, my niece-daughter and her love. But how could I get my point across? As always, God gave me the ANSWER.
Thousands of miles apart, my neice-daughter and her honey Skype. Sometimes odd hours, long hours or one hour. But love abounds. Being an aunt-mom, my curiosity began to overwhelm a quest for answers. Why is she on the computer ALL the time? So I peaked inside her room.
My goodness, thought I had a Color Purple flashback as an image of Cecily laying gingerly across her bed amused in conversation with her man. Unbrushed teeth, plats pointing everywhere, dangling t-shirt, no bra, no earrings, no lipstick. Just her natural self.
Of course my response…”Girl, girl. I did not train you to be like this.” Her response was “T when he said he wanted ME, I asked him would he love me on HOBO days.” For a minute, I was speechless. What is hobo day? After looking at her, I quickly figured it out. And by the way, both of them were enjoying one another.
Connecting old and new, the Book of Esther came to mind. Esther was a beautiful orphaned girl who became a queen. Her story involves power and romance. She was a Jew who hid her identity, used a Persian name, married King Ahasuerus and later saved the Israelites.
“to bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal crown, in order to show her beauty to the people, and the officials for she was beautiful to behold.” (Esther 1:11, NKJV) Although Queen Vashti refused King Ahasuerus orders, even she did not feel like displaying her BEAUTY. Of course the king took an immediate action against his queen. He divorced her and demoted her from the privileged role. Esther and Vashti are two different queens. God chose Esther to perform His plan and save the Israelites; ultimately, her people.
So today’s words are LOVE, EYES, BEHOLDER. Times has certainly changed as we reference BEAUTY + LOVE. Whereas old times women had to showcase their beauty at their husbands command. Today, BEAUTY is seen beyond physicality. Let us thank God for that.
1 Peter mentions BEAUTY, it reads…”Do not let your adornment be merely outward arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel – rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” (3:3-4).

2020, A YEAR IN REVIEW
Poetry & Photography by: Tonnette Collier, M.Ed.
Written: 12-30 through 31-2020
2020, a year in review.
I nearly loss my life.
But God brought me through.
I laughed, cried and sighed in relief.
Walked, talked, and kneeled in prayer to my Father and Chief.
2020, a year in review.
I made new friends, both kings and queens.
But not a Boaz, only in my dreams.
Smiles, mind chats calmed my innermost thoughts, and wildest imaginings.
2020, a year in review.
My Author cared, listened, and protected this heart of mine from evil doers, misusers, liars, and all kind of hateful things. He showered me with comforting words, danced with me on my clouds, whispered motivational aspirations in my ears, hummed spiritual hymnals in the darkness with me, and held me high. He never left me on lonely days or nights, not even when I cried.
2020, a year in review.
Barely able to make ends meet, oh how my Provider supplied my every need. This is true. I did not hunger, sweat, thirst, worry excessively, went without, or doubted His powers. For His mercy and goodness blessed me in every hour.
2020, a year in review.
I look back with thankfulness.
So forward I go into 2021 with a bubbly attitude, conquering demeanor, sharper mind, sweeter heart armored in love, with action plans galore, and yes I am ready to soar.
Unbottle your many talents, my Creator beckoned with a loud and clear voice…it is time. Rise up SISTAH and do you better than the year before. Share with the world what they haven’t dranked.
THE BLACK BUTTERFLY
Poetry by: Tonnette Collier, M.Ed.
Written: 7-21-2020
Oh I am the black butterfly alright with fuchsia pink veins in my wings swiftly fluttering before your sight.
My energy move mountains and can put your mind at ease. I can take you on a flights and trip you into a breeze. Oh I am the black butterfly alright, a stealth above your head.
Don’t attempt to grab me for I am too delicate and silky to hold. Oh I am the black butterfly alright, treat me with kindness and care.
Just look at my lovely legs, bubbly eyes, and beautiful wings that soar. Though untouchable, I am only for those who can truly see. Oh I am the black butterfly, the one with the pretty wings.
Now feel my twitching snoot as I gently stroke your hand. Oh I am the black butterfly alright, that I truly am. My motions will make you believe that your emotions are felt and you will achieve great heights.
Think positive my friend, read my movements. For I the black butterfly gesture without words, not even rhymes of expression using adjectives and verbs. Oh I am the black butterfly.
Hear my wings speak, tilt your head back look into the heavenly skies, now whisper into the wind… I am God’s creation though wingless I be. I can fly on the wings of the black butterfly, my new messenger indeed.
Oh she is the black butterfly, sweetly prancing in the wind, though soundless and beautiful…she is my lifetime crony before I knock on heaven’s door.
THE SNAKE IN MY GARDEN
By Tonnette Collier, M.Ed.
Written: 11/27/2019
Slithering without a frown,
Starred into my eyes,
Smiles so charming,
Motives unseen.
I let him roam.
Words captured my mind,
An endless spin,
Enjoying every minute,
Smitten by a tongue.
I let him roam.
A 23 year love wait,
Yet only to be deceived,
Blinded by darkness,
Underneath a rose tree.
I let him roam.
365 days later,
Realization set in,
Love in the garden,
Never had been.
I let him roam.
Refusing to believe,
The signs were there,
But love in the garden,
Overpowered truth.
I let him roam.
Sounds whispered,
This is not true love,
Forgive and forget,
Trust Me from above.
I let him roam.
Exhausted by hopes,
Times seemed unfair,
For love in the garden,
Wasn’t really there.
I began to roam.
Spoke his last lie,
He slithered away,
Without a goodbye,
Relieved with a cry.
I roamed in distraught.
Sunlight covered my eyes,
Birds chippered with cheer,
This is your garden,
Believe without wonder.
I roamed no more.
Love is in my garden,
Let it flow,
For he who roams,
Let his ass go.
A STORM CONNECTED US
Written by Tonnette Collier
May 5 -15, 2019
Heavy rains danced on our windowpane. I clutched your shoulders as sweat dripped from your beard onto my breast. Sweetly caressing me, you gently sucked both nipples, passionately gripped my ass, pressed me close to your heart and kissed me between my eyes. You said, I love you baby, you bring me joy.
Touching my cheeks, you began to rub my thighs, and I said my love is only for you. While you were inside my body, thunder and lightning spoke into the clouds as sounds of raindrops relaxed our minds.
We bonded.
We connected.
We were showered in ecstasy.
As the winds blew, our hearts began to beat as one. No signs of a glowing moon tonight, stormy skies covered it. We hugged tighter. We made love again and again. We kissed over and over as flashes of lightning strikes, swirling winds calmed our flesh. Suddenly, two became one.
So passionate, so gentle, so hot. I moaned as you pressed my hips toward yours, I whispered your name. We climaxed once more. I rested my head on your chest, you held me closer as misty gray clouds smiled down on us.
We bonded.
We connected.
We were showered in ecstasy.
The morning sun rose yet did not shine from above because our love glistened from below. Yes, it was our love spreading sunrays through stormy skies and onto the universe. We knew, we were soulmates deeply in love.
For God brought us together. His plan sent down from the heavens. His blessings continue to touch this blossoming true love with sprinkles of unspeakable joy, peace, harmony & happiness…
We bonded.
We connected.
We are saturated in true love.

Microscopic Love, an Eagle’s Lies
Poetry by Tonnette Collier
With eyes like a hungry eagle, a man
scopes for his next prey, she is a beautiful beauty, a symbol of angelic sweetness. Discovered deeply embedded amongst a gazillion faces, he clutched her onto his chest and flew her mind.
When I saw you, I knew you would be my wife as the eagle smugly spoke into her eyes. She danced with joy not seeing the dagger underneath his wing.
Believing her prayers were answered, standing under heavenly skies with extended arms thanking God. She said, my soulmate has arrived. I thank you Lord.
And the eagle buoyantly jumped and shouted, she loves me. Her mind, body and soul belong to me. She is mine Mr. God.
Every day charming sayings roamed about her ears as God signaled warnings ignored by her heart. For her eyes could not see microscopic love covered by her blinded mind. She believed words from a heartless eagle, a man who swooped down only to guzzle her gains.
Suddenly God’s echoes became soundless. Convinced his love was pure and real, she sweated like a teen virgin sneaking first time sex in the park before sundown.
Baby I love you…
I am yours the eagle lied.
You are my queen the eagle lied.
I am your king the eagle lied.
You are my angel the eagle lied.
God put us together, he said, she believed.
Whispering words, everything she longed to hear. His I need this intercepted her arousal. She gives ungrudgingly without hesitation, never reciprocated. And yet thoughts of his cunning ways never dawned her mind.
Imaginary microscopic love her eyes could not see. Before long, it was he, not she, not we. Overwhelmed by desires to love, her heart felt empty, beating without rhythm, slowly draining her spiritual and loving character.
Realizing before too late, microscopic love could not be found between them. She lifted her eyes and extended her arms unto heavenly skies, God forgive me for believing an eagle’s lies.
COLORED STARS
Poetry by Tonnette Collier
Written: February 5 – March 15, 2018
On the shores I rest my eyes,
as night skies look down on me.
Colored stars are gleaming,
speaking sweetly into the wind.
Royal blue winked with a misty shine,
it is I my sistah here to mesmerize your heart, mesmerize your mind.
East of the little dipper stood emerald green all bold. It is I my sistah here to embrace your body and soul.
Clutching the moon top, juicy masculine brown lips all tender and warm. It is I my sistah here blissfully puckered with a gentle kiss into the wild.
Orange danced gracefully and radiantly laughed. It is I my sistah here to brighten your smile, make your eyes shine, spread light into your path.
Deep into the corner, arched purple with tiny wings of silver, sprinkling pearly water on my soul. It is I my sistah protecting your inner peace like precious diamonds in gold.
Arrows with ruby red flames captured the essence of my being. Saving my thoughts, loving my meaning. It is I my sistah your warrior, your guide.
Pink sapphire gems rested on shells beneath and between my toes. You are ever so dazzling, so beautiful to behold. It is I my sistah, shadows in your waves.
On the shores I rested my eyes,
as yellow skies looked down on me,
and where colored stars once gleamed.
Each unseen star spoke sweetly into the wind…
Awaken my sistah, let a new day begin.
A Reflection
Written by Tonnette Collier
Summer 1980-1983, not sure which summer
A reflection in a mirror
Shows your physical appearance
Beauty and charm.
A reflection in a mirror shows nothing that would do life a harm.
A reflection is just what you see.
You see,
Everyone functions within themselves
And yet only a few people
Seem to understand,
That…whatever reflects in a mirror,
Does not define your inner man.
FLOWING WORD TRUTHS
Written by Tonnette Collier
May 18, 2018
Dreams are to be lived
Promises can be broken
Real love makes the world go around
So cry in laughter
And smile in sorrow
For nothing is greater than another tomorrow
See the moon with closed eyes
And feel the glistening sun
Remember the past
Rise forward with lunges and runs
Begin new beginnings
For many will come
Chase rainbows
And float on clouds
Look to the hills
Not crowds
Forgive enemies
Love every sweet angel
Take charge of life
Because…
Amazingness is YOU
Selflessness is YOU
Incredibleness is YOU
THE POETRY OF I AM ME
Written by Tonnette Collier
December 28-31, 2016
With stunning eyes, lips heartly shaped, a mind of thoughtful thoughts, I carry the gift to love always, be forever true. Embracing God’s beauty, I am me, completely gratified by who I am. To love my Author, to love His Son, to love you, to love me, to bestow acts of kindness on the world, I am me.
Blessed with caramel layered, peanut butter smooth skin and hands to dispense gentle touches, I am me. Walking confidently with hips that royally gyrate from right to left, boldly expressing my African ancestry of queen sistahness. I am me, pleasingly profound.
Peacefully shinning like a morning sun, I am me endlessly standing with warm smiles to brighten any pathway, illuminating through uncertainty and cheerfully reigning through trials. I am me.
Godly, womanly ways with impeccable strengths serve as natural roots connecting my femininity, my style. And pure sweetness resonates from this heart, this soul. I am me.
A wordsmith of intellectual expressions that derive from creative interpretations wooing one’s mind, I am me. Gestures of certainty solidifies my quest to motivate, to stimulate, to lift spirits, to mesmerize and to entice destinies soaring beyond ordinary, I am me.
Bestowed upon this vessel are pillars of hope, pillars of wisdom, pillars of stewardship, I am me. Resting on God’s wings of love year after year, day by day because I am destined for heavenly ground, I will always be…I am me.
